THE World University Rankings 2022

Glasgow Caledonian University has once again been named one of the world’s top universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2022.

We have been ranked in the 601-800 banding, out of 1,662 institutions, maintaining the position we achieved last year.

There have been positive improvements across all categories for the University, with the results also showing the greatest rise for the International Outlook category, followed closely by Citations and Industry Income.

International Outlook assesses a university’s ability to attract undergraduates, postgraduates and faculty from all over the planet, while Citations looks at a university’s role in spreading new knowledge and ideas. Industry Income measures the extent to which businesses are willing to pay for research and a university’s ability to attract funding in the commercial marketplace.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE said: "We are pleased that our University has maintained its position in the THE World University Rankings.

“Our inclusion in this highly respected ranking is testament to the dedication and team work of our staff and students across the University, particularly in regard to the international outlook and impactful work of the University, as reflected in our top scores.

“My sincere thanks go to all members of our University community, who continue to deliver outstanding outcomes with impact for the common good. We will work together to build on this position in the coming years through continued, collective efforts to improve our student experience, our blended-learning offer and the social impact of our research.”
