Excelling in teaching and research
GCU has been named as one of the world's leading universities for teaching and research in our key subject areas, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2020 by subject.
The subject-specific tables have ranked the University in the top 401-500 for business and economics, improving on its 501+ position from 2019.
The University has maintained its ranking in the top 401-500 for social sciences. It has also achieved this ranking for clinical, pre-clinical and health subjects.
For the first time, GCU has ranked 501-600 out of more than 1000 universities worldwide for engineering and technology.
Professor James Miller, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategy), said: "We are delighted that we are continuing to improve our World position in these subject rankings. They recognise our commitment to teaching and research excellence across these disciplines and are a testament to the outstanding efforts of our staff across the three academic schools."
In September, GCU was ranked 601-800 in the THE World University Rankings 2020, one of only three Scottish modern universities to be ranked in the top 1000.
The rankings by subject use the same performance indicators as the overall ranking but with the methodology recalibrated to suit the individual fields.
