Student life

Get ready for your best years

Your student years really can be the best years of your life. Student life offers so much more than getting an education – there’s the social life, the opportunity to discover new sports and other interests, and the chance to meet new people from all over the world.

Wider university experience:

  • Study in our award-winning library, which has a mix of social and quiet study spaces, including 1,200 dedicated study spots and over 350 computers.
  • Grab a bite to eat or a drink at one of our four catering outlets
  • Practise some self-care and work out at our onsite gym, The Arc. You can take part in spin, yoga, body pump, body attack, circuit training or box circuit classes, to name but a few!
  • Join one of our sports clubs or societies via the Students’ Association
  • Access our in-person student services such as the Careers Team, Wellbeing and Student Funding.

Glasgow, the perfect city for students

With its heady mix of culture, architecture, music, nightlife, shopping and sport, not to mention its friendly residents, Glasgow has everything you need. Accessible, affordable and multicultural, this is a great city for students from all backgrounds and cultures.

Glasgow is one of National Geographic Traveller's top 20 'Best of the World' destinations. The city was also voted ‘friendliest city in the world’ in a Rough Guide poll and described as a must visit destination by the New York Times, The Guardian and Wanderlust.

Students' Association

Great news − as a new GCU student, you’re automatically a member of our Students’ Association! This is where we represent your interests and make sure you have the best university experience possible.

The difference between surviving university and thriving at university is often down to a sense of belonging. Having others around who share similar values and making friends that understand you can go a long way towards feeling at home. The Students’ Association has loads of sports, clubs and societies for you to choose from. And they’re all run by students like you, making it the perfect chance to take part in an activity you love, and find friends along the way.

Sports and fitness

As a GCU student, you can enjoy a range of health and fitness activities all year round. It’s easy to join a sports club, become a no-contract member of the Arc: Health and Fitness or join a football, netball or tennis team, and book some time in the Multi User Games Area (MUGA).
