What is UCAS Clearing?
UCAS Clearing is an excellent way for you to find and apply for alternative undergraduate degree courses at Glasgow Caledonian University after you receive your results. Once Clearing opens, you can apply for places on university degree courses that are listed on the UCAS vacancies page.
Is Clearing for me?
UCAS Clearing is for you if:
- You're making a new UCAS application after 30 June
- You've not received an offer from any university
- You've not met the requirements of conditional offers you received
- You’ve declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in your application
If you're a Scottish applicant, there's still time to apply for selected courses such as Nursing and Biosciences. Availability is limited, so we'd recommend getting in touch soon to explore your options.
Key UCAS Clearing dates
UCAS Clearing runs from July to October once the UCAS standard application process closes. If you want to start studying in September 2026, the key dates you should take note of are:
- 2 July: UCAS officially opens Clearing
- 4 August: Our GCU Clearing Helpline opens.
How do I get an offer using Clearing?
Once clearing opens on 2 July:
- Use the search tool on the UCAS website to find Clearing vacancies. Please note that the online list is updated regularly.
- If you see a course that interests you, find out more about it by visiting our study section or call our UCAS Clearing Helpline.
- Once you've found a course you want to apply for, contact us to make sure the place is still available.
- Use UCAS to add the Clearing choice to your application and fill in the course details by the date we gave you on the phone.
How will Clearing impact my time at university, my degree and my future prospects?
