Heritier Muhire

2018 Magnusson Award winner

‌Heritier grew up in Rwanda, and as a 2018 Magnusson Award winner he was able to give back to his community by building a menstrual hygiene room for girls, as well as educating them and teaching them how to make reusable sanitary products and improving the community health centre’s existing facilities.

A heartfelt thank you to the Magnusson Panel for seeing the value in my project and for awarding me the funding. It truly means the world to me and to the community of Muhondo in Rwanda. The Magnusson Award has made a huge difference to the lives of so many people, especially the girls who are part of the cooperative. This award gives me hope that we can help to launch an even bigger initiative bringing sustainable menstrual hygiene management to many girls all around Rwanda.
