The 2025 edition of GCU Alumni, our annual magazine for alumni, donors, and friends of the University, is now available online.
This special anniversary edition marks 150 years since the founding of the Glasgow School of Cookery. Inside, we reflect on our extraordinary journey from pioneering women’s education in 1875 to being named the top-ranked modern university in the UK in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026 as well as our enduring commitment to the Common Good.
The magazine is a celebration of the past year and features the launch of the GCU Foundation’s 150th Anniversary Campaign, led by founding donor Sir Alex Ferguson CBE and GCU graduate and honorary graduate Dr Murray Rowden. The campaign introduced our most ambitious scholarship programme. You’ll also find inspiring stories from alumni and ambassadors who are making a positive impact through their lives, careers, and research, including Lord Willie Haughey OBE, Founder of City Facilities Management, and Dr Allison Kirkby, Chief Executive of BT Group.
Jillian Watt, Director of Advancement and Communications, said: “This special edition is not only a celebration of 150 years of transformative impact but also a reflection of the incredible achievements of the past year. We hope it inspires pride in all that Glasgow Caledonian stands for and encourages our community to be part of writing the next chapter.”
