Two GAs nominated for Scottish Apprenticeship Awards
Two Graduate Apprentices from Glasgow Caledonian University have been nominated for Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.
Mark Diamond and Sean Crumley, who combine work with studying BEng (Hons) Engineering (Design Manufacture), are in the running for prizes this year.
Glasgow Caledonian is Scotland's leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships and works collaboratively with more than 300 employers across the country.
The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, organised by Skills Development Scotland, celebrate the vital benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals and the economy.
Mark, who works for power solutions provider Aggreko and helped deliver the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia, has been nominated for Graduate Apprentice of the Year.
He said: "Doing a Graduate Apprenticeship gives you the best of both worlds – you are constantly putting your learning into practice and gaining valuable experience.
"I have been able to absorb knowledge from more experienced colleagues on my apprenticeship, which has helped me in my personal and professional development, and also boosted my confidence."
Meanwhile, Sean, has been shortlisted for Supporting Net Zero Apprentice of the Year, for helping to reduce the amount of materials used by East-Kilbride firm Valve Components by 75%. He has recently joined RLK Technologies, a start-up company that makes AI-powered drones.
The winners will be announced during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which runs from March 4-8.
Glasgow Caledonian's Institute for University to Business Education works with programme leaders and employers to identify potential nominees each year.
