Join the Sporting a Healthy Pelvic Floor event at Glasgow Caledonian
Glasgow Caledonian University researchers are teaming up with the Scottish Government to host a special event on women’s pelvic floor health as part of Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week 2025.
The Sporting a Healthy Pelvic Floor event will take place on Tuesday, October 7, 9.30–11.30am, in the CEE Building at our Glasgow campus. Sign up here through Eventbrite.
It will showcase the University’s world-leading research on female pelvic floor health and highlight the importance of strong pelvic muscles for sport, fitness, and everyday wellbeing.
Key guests will be Scottish Government Minister for Public Health and Women's Health Jenni Minto and MSP for Glasgow (Region) Pam Duncan-Glancy.
All are welcome to join the event and explore:
- What your pelvis looks like
- Preventing, predicting and treating problems in the pelvic floor
- Pelvic floor muscle exercises
- Your pelvic floor in sport and fitness training
- Our wider research and knowledge.
The event has been organised by School of Health and Life Sciences’ Professors Bugge and Hagen, who are key researchers in the University’s Research Centre for Health (ReaCH) Ageing Well Research Group.
NHS Tayside Women’s Health Physiotherapist Carolyn Davie will be there to explain how to undertake a correct pelvic floor muscle contraction so that all women can exercise their pelvic floor.
The audience will get the opportunity to speak to the engaging and knowledgeable experts, as well as learn more about supporting their own pelvic floor health in life and in sport.
Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week 2025 (#SheCanSheWill) takes place from October 6-12 and aims to celebrate and inspire women and girls to become more involved in sports and physical activity.
