Edward finds the right rhythm

A PhD student made the semi-finals of the prestigious UK Three Minute Thesis competition - the furthest reached by a student from GCU.

Edward Averell, the winner of this year's GCU Three Minute Thesis competition with his presentation 'A Rhythm-Based Game for Stroke Rehabilitation', was selected as one of 12 semi-finalists from a total of 70 universities who entered the Vitae UK competition this year.

This is the fifth year GCU has taken part and the first time a student has reached this far in the UK competition.

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) was developed by the University of Queensland to celebrate the exciting research conducted by PhD Students. Participants have one slide and three minutes to present their research in language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Since its inception in 2008, the popularity of 3MT has grown, and competitions are now held in over 600 universities across more than 65 countries worldwide.
