RICS’ Rising Stars to join cutting-edge forum on built environment

Four School of Engineering and Built Environment students have been invited to join The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Rising Stars programme.

Yves Magdalena-Grace Agnew, of Building Surveying, Rebecca Barrett MacKenzie, of Construction Management, Emma Callaghan, of Quantity Surveying, and Holly Kay, of Real Estate, will be sponsored by RICS to attend the Summit of the World Built Environment Forum in London. The Summit features two days of cutting-edge debate focussing on Our Changing World — Urbanisation, Innovation and Civilisation.

Tony Kilpatrick, Head of the Department of Construction and Surveying, said: “We are delighted that RICS are sponsoring four students to attend the summit through its Future Talent team’s programme to identify the rising stars of the profession. This is a great opportunity for them to engage with the cutting-edge themes of the summit, including the impact of the fourth Industrial Revolution and the role of intelligent technology. The students’ performance at GCU is commendable and they are great role models for encouraging more women to join the sector.”

The World Built Environment Forum Rising Star programme is creating a pool of talent of new professionals and future leaders in the built environment and allows them to join current leaders in strategic debate. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between employers and young people, using the summit as a platform for engagement.
