International Committee

Terms of Reference

The International Committee is a standing committee of Senate and has the following terms of reference:

  1. To lead in the formulation, promotion, implementation, monitoring and review of the University’s Internationalisation Enabling Plan 2024-27
  2. To advise and make recommendations to Senate and University Executive Group on matters of policy relating to the strategy and international activities at all levels, including, inter alia:
    • The development of international partnerships and collaborative arrangements
    • The development of transnational education
    • International marketing and recruitment activity
    • Alumni targeting and engagement
    • Relation with external agencies with respect to international activities;
    • Training and staff development issues
    • Student voice.
  3. To direct the development of internationalisation action plans, monitor progress against strategic objectives and measure programme against the University’s international key performance indicators
  4. To ensure that appropriate structures and frameworks are established to facilitate the implementation of the Internationalisation Plan; and to advise the University Executive Group on the relevant and appropriate resources needed to support its implementation*
  5. To assist in the development, monitoring and review of strategies and procedures for international marketing, recruitment and admission, and to make appropriate recommendations to relevant University committees or departments
  6. To receive reports from key stakeholders responsible for the implementation of aspects of the Internationalisation Plan, make recommendations, and take appropriate action
  7. To advise Senate and University Executive Group on matters relating to international activity and affairs, including responses to external consultation requests regarding international matters
  8. To promote good practice and consistency across the University’s international partnership activity and ensure the effective dissemination and communication of all areas of its activity
  9. To oversee the University’s database of international partnerships and collaborative arrangements via the Partnership Register
  10. To oversee and monitor the implementation of the processes for the approval and review of international partnerships and collaborative arrangements and make recommendations for enhancing processes as appropriate to Senate
  11. To consider matters related to international mobility for students and staff and advise the University Executive Group on the relevant and appropriate resources needed to support its implementation
  12. To receive and consider an annual report from stakeholders on all international partnership activity, ensure that actions are effectively implemented and consideration given to common issues.

* The Committee may establish short-life working groups from time to time to perform specific tasks and, in so doing, must determine their terms of reference, membership (including the Chair, who must be a member of this Committee) and lifespan.
