2014 BA(Hons)International Retail Marketing
Assistant Merchandiser - Evergreen Fashions

Natalie McCairn

Why choose GCU?

I choose GCU as it's the only Glasgow university to offer fashion based courses. International Retail Marketing was a brand new degree so it was exciting to be the first graduates of that course!

What was most important?

The wide range of topics covered during the course was fab. Also, the mix of practical work experience and theory was a great start for my career. The lecturers were so helpful, and we had some great guest lecturers like the founder of ASOS which was so interesting.

Biggest lesson learned?

I think it would say that although your coursework is super important, internships and work experience can take you to another level. GCU is well established so was a good starting point when I was trying to get internships.

Describe GCU...

Accessible and forward thinking!

Who inspires you?

There are so many people who inspire me! Recently there has been a surge in young people creating their own businesses which I think is really commendable!

What's next for you?

I have just started a new role with the fashion company Evergreen which I'm very excited about! My ambitions have always been to work within the fashion industry so I'm happy that I've continued on that path!
