Dr Stella Bain is a Chartered Psychologist, a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, and Co-Programme Leader for the MSc Forensic Psychology programme. Dr Bain’s teaching interests include forensic, social, and political psychology, and research methods and statistics. Her research interests lie broadly in examining the factors that affect the reliability of testimony in forensic settings, and responses to interrogative pressure. Her research has included studies examining factors affecting the assessment of suggestibility on the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scales, investigating the theoretical explanations that account for suggestible responding, factors contributing to false confessions and confession decisions, and understanding of the police caution.
