Stefanie Schnabel

PhD Candidate

Stefanie is a part-time PhD candidate within the School of Health and Life Sciences and a registered Neuro-Physiotherapist. She has been working in the field of neurological physiotherapy for over 15 years, with a special interest in working in the community with people who had a stroke and people with multiple sclerosis. Stefanie gained a B.A. in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Glasgow in 2011. With a studentship from the Erasmus Mundus Programme Stefanie completed a M.Sc. in Health Research Methods at University College London and the University of Bergen, Norway in 2013.
Stefanie is currently undertaking a PhD which explores rehabilitation needs and coping strategies of stroke survivors who were involved in augmented arm rehabilitation, in a mixed methods approach. This PhD project is nested within the Early VERsus Later Augmented Physiotherapy study. She completed the first study which was a qualitative investigation, exploring the experience of augmented arm rehabilitation and supported self-management after stroke. The PhD project is now in the phase of data analysis for the second study.
