The emerging micro-pollutants (EMPs) in natural water sources and waste water receives high attention and concerns due to problematic issues caused in human health and ecological security. Ferrate is a novel and promising technique for cleaning the EMPs. My PhD project dedicates to study the ferrate treatment of three types of concerned EMPs (endocrine disruptors, pesticides and pharmaceuticals) in water. This project systematically evaluates the performance of ferrate in comparison with ozonation for the degradation of EMPs and reducing the toxicity of EMP contained water. Additionally, degradation pathways and kinetic study of the target EMPs are also studied.
