Soumen Sengupta is an Honorary Professor in Strategy and Public Health at Glasgow Caledonian University and has had an extensive career in public health and health and social care management in England and Scotland. He has over 25 years of experience across the NHS, local government, academia and national agencies, including at Executive and Board levels. This has included leading successful strategic transformation programmes at local, regional and national levels.
Alongside being the Chief Officer of the South Lanarkshire Integration Joint Board and Director of Health and Social Care for South Lanarkshire, his current role is as Director of Social Work Services for South Lanarkshire Council, with executive and strategic responsibility for Children and Justice Services, and the Director of Primary Care for NHS Lanarkshire, providing executive and strategic leadership for pan-Lanarkshire Primary Care services. He is also an active member of Health and Social Care Scotland (HSCS) and the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE).
Soumen has an MSc in Public Health from the University of Aberdeen and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde. He is particularly interested in strategy, systems thinking, multi-agency partnerships, health and social care integration, and tackling inequalities/determinants of health.
