Rebecca Johnson

PhD Student

Department of Psychology

Rebecca joined GCU as a PhD student in October 2020.

Rebecca graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2018, before completing a MSc in Research Methods in Psychology at the same institute in 2019. She is a member of the GCU Child and Adolescent Health Research Group and is a Co-Chair of Glasgow’s branch of ReproducibiliTea (@GlasgowTea). Rebecca’s PhD is assessing young people’s experience of mental illness stigma and discrimination, with the central aim of creating a valid and reliable measure of this experience as no such measure currently exists. Also central to this research is the use of participatory research methods and co-production methodology, with young people supporting the project as meaningful partners. She is supervised by Dr Simon Hunter (GCU), Dr Lana Ireland (GCU) and Dr Pamela Jenkins (Mental Health Foundation). The studentship is funded by GCU and The Mental Health Foundation.
