Dr Rebecca Johnson is an academic psychologist and Lecturer in the Department of Psychology. She teaches across the BSc Applied Psychology and DPsych programmes.
She holds a BSc Psychology Degree and MSc in Advanced Psychological Research Methods from The University of Strathclyde, as well as a PhD in Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University. She is currently pursuing Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, after teaching across institutions since 2018.
Rebecca’s research interests are situated within social and developmental psychology, with a particular interest in children and young people’s mental health and their experiences of mental health stigma.
She is an expert in the application of participatory and creative research methods, with a focus on uplifting lesser heard voices through research. While her approaches are mixed methods, Rebecca is particularly comfortable with in-depth qualitative research methods.
Her newer avenues of research interest include exploring young people’s experiences of being raised in a military family and the impact of dual stigma.
