Project title: Partial Discharge Monitoring of HVDC Cable Systems
M. Azizian Fard is a PhD student in high voltage engineering within the Institute for Sustainable Engineering and Technology Research. He is working on condition monitoring of HVDC cables, particularly, partial discharge (PD) monitoring of HVDC cable systems, where he is investigating the operational and anomalous conditions of HVDC systems such as ripples, harmonics, polarity reversal and transient overvoltages on partial discharge behaviour within HVDC cable insulation. The outcomes of this study will assist in understanding of PD behaviour under HVDC voltages, which should influence future insulation diagnostic practices in important equipment such as HVDC cable in grid interlinks.
