Dr Mahmood Anwar is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University and was previously a Lecturer for eight years at Curtin University, Sarawak Campus, Malaysia.

Prior to joining this academic position, he was a research scientist in Hitachi CFP PTE, Singapore and was involved as a lead scientist for high voltage component research and corrosion protection projects. He was also a technical adviser of several palm oil industries for acoustic materials design.

Mahmood has been a long-serving member of IMM Coating Fingerprint Task Force for coating standard development in the oil and gas industry and led the Committee of Standard Development in IMM as co-chair. He is also a professional, certified coating quality controller for the oil and gas industry.

He has published more than 30 research papers to date, including journals and international conferences, and is a regular reviewer of several journals. He is very active in industrial research, postgraduate supervision and academic accreditation work. Mahmood has served as an auditor for numerous academic programmes. Due to his industrial research contribution, he has been awarded Fellow of Institute of Materials, Malaysia. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIMMM) and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (SFHEA), UK.
