Maeve joined the Yunus Centre as a PhD student in November 2019. Her research examines how different discourses and embedded ideas influence the development and operationalisation of social enterprise policies and strategies globally. Supported by a grant from the Scottish Government, this project specifically focuses on the evolution of social enterprise policy in Scotland and its implications for policy co-production in Scottish and international contexts. Professor Michael Roy, Dr Gillian Murray and Dr Yvonne Strachan CBE jointly supervise this research.

Maeve is part of the Saltire Emerging Researcher (SER) Programme and is using her SER award funded by the Scottish Graduate School for Social Sciences and the Scottish Funding Council to study the sustainability of co-production over time.

She is also involved with Yunus Centre research focused on community solidarity and mutual aid. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and has supervised and taught students on the MSc Social Innovation course.

A graduate of the University of Virginia (U.Va.) in the United States, Maeve holds a Master of Public Policy (MPP.) and a BA in Global Development Studies and Government. At U.Va. her research focused on participatory development strategies and increasing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. With a breadth of experience across the public and third sectors, Maeve most recently worked as Social Enterprise World Forum’s Policy and Research Manager.
