Kate Ngai is a Lecturer in Media and Journalism at Glasgow Caledonian University. She joined the school in September 2021, after completing her PhD in Media and Cultural Policy from the University of Glasgow.
Kate's doctoral research examines both moderate and cyclical fan behaviour, as well as individual television viewing habits. Her work includes publications on cyclical fandom, persona and identity, and empathy in television audiences.
Kate teaches courses in film, television, and audience studies. Her research interests include fan culture, media engagement, and intersectionality in country music.
