Karen McFarlane

Lecturer in Accountancy

Karen is a Lecturer in Accountancy, Programme Leader of the MSc Accounting, Finance and Regulation programme and year 4 Personal Tutor for the BA (Hons) Accountancy programme. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK and is currently undertaking a Doctorate of Business Administration.

Karen teaches at both postgraduate and undergraduate level, her areas of specialism being audit; UK public sector accounting and reporting; and financial reporting. Karen has also previously taught on professional accountancy programmes and has been a marker of professional examinations.

Karen is a Chartered Public Finance Accountant, and, prior to her move to academia, was an Audit Manager at Audit Scotland where she worked for 12 years.

Karen maintains strong links with the accountancy profession and is a member of the CIPFA Scottish Branch Executive Committee.
