Julie Clayton

Lecturer in Paramedic Science

Department of Physiotherapy and Paramedicine

Julie joined the team from an NHS background, having worked as a nurse in palliative care and a paramedic in pre-hospital care, before taking up lecturing full-time in 2012.

Julie’s subject interests are in the non-technical elements of clinical practice, in particular, leadership, values-based practice and the emotional welfare of health-care workers.

Julie’s research interests are in paramedic staff and student welfare and widening access to paramedic education. She is currently undertaking doctoral research exploring psychological change in paramedic students following exposure to secondary trauma in practice-based education.
