Jill Marchbank, joined SPIRU as an Associate Researcher in 2019 and is now a PhD student and seminar tutor at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her PhD takes a Critical Realist lens to understanding the experience of Expert Citizens involved in Co-Production in Scotland and asks how Expert Citizens can more effectively contribute to creating eudaemonic policy. Her background in counselling and interest in transformative education inform her development of qualitative Sociological methodology and method. In the past she has been involved in studies on the uptake of school meals by secondary pupils, widening participation and lifelong learning and the socio-cultural impact of the obesogenic environment on low income families. She recently contributed to a report on secondary pupils uptake of school meals and her forthcoming co-authored publications include a rapid systematic literature review of co-production in Scotland and articles on widening participation and lifelong learning (in relation to the Caledonian Club’s ‘Families Connect’).
