Dr Jenny Crowe

Lecturer

Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences

Jenny’s career began with the successful completion of a BBSRC-funded PhD project “An investigation of how dendritic cell migration is modulated during Leishmania mexicana infection” at the University of Strathclyde. During this project, Jenny utilised a combination of ex vivo and in vivo imaging approaches to study immune cell dynamics during infection. Thereafter, Jenny undertook BBSRC funded post-doctoral position at the University of Glasgow, studying the immune response during age and obesity-induced inflammation.

Jenny recently worked for a biotechnology partnered with the Beatson Cancer Research Institute and became interested in elucidating immune-oncological involvement in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

As a whole, Jenny’s research is centred around how host immunity copes with aberrant inflammatory responses, in processes such as ageing, metabolic syndrome and cancer.

Jenny has recently taken up a Lecturing post at GCU in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, teaching in programmes such as molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis, oncology and infectious disease. She is looking forward to establishing and furthering her research within the department.

Jenny has a keen interest in Public outreach activities and enjoys sharing research with the public and encouraging STEM involvement. She is a member of the British Society of Immunology, British Society of Parasitology and Biochemical Society. She regularly contributes to international conferences and research publications.

Research interests include: Immunology, immune-oncology, ageing, inflammageing, metabolic syndrome, immune cell migration
