Political Economy research into the links between poverty and employment, specifically in-work poverty, and how it relates to an individual’s intensity of work. Also, currently studying the effect of community gardening as a social response to COVID-19.
Jed Graham’s PhD thesis is using classical theory of Political Economy to understand the prevalence of in-work poverty and working intensity within labour markets. The focus relates specifically to North Lanarkshire, where precarious employment has become central to the post-industrial economy. Jed is also currently studying the effects of community gardening as a social response to the COVID-19 crisis. The work is looking at aspects of social cohesion, mental health, and food insecurity. Jed has begun his academic career having previously been employed in the Canadian Federal Government.
