Project title: Smart Building Energy Management for Large Non-Domestic Buildings using HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Control for Guaranteed Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

In Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system design is an important factor. Due to inefficient operation of HVAC system, nearly all buildings waste 10% of the energy they consume therefore in BEMS, Heat Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system design is an important factor. The main purpose of this research is to develop a computational efficient central controller for energy management of large non-domestic buildings via HVAC controller. The proposed controller will be able to minimize the energy consumption and thereby reduce CO2 emission without compromising human comfort. To achieve this goal, a novel Random Neural Network (RNN) based algorithm will be developed and assessed via MATLAB and Integrated Environment Solution-Virtual Environment (IES-VE) software. We expect that the applicability of the proposed controller/algorithm would span to other buildings of similar type. The proposed model will help energy/facility managers to plan optimum controllers for the automatic HVAC systems to achieve significant amount of energy savings.
