Ingrid Rutherford

Lecturer

Department of Nursing, Community and Public Health

After graduation from Glasgow University, Ingrid followed a career in intensive-care nursing.  While working in a wide variety of critical care settings across the UK and Australia, she broadened her experience before obtaining her post-registration qualification in this specialty.

On her return to Glasgow, she then held a Lecturer-Practitioner position shared between Glasgow Caledonian and Glasgow Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit until 2006.

Since then, Ingrid has worked as a lecturer in adult nursing at Glasgow Caledonian, more recently taking on the role of Programme Leader for the MSc Preregistration (Adult) Nursing.

Her key areas of interest are innovations in nurse education, including technology-enhanced learning and simulation education. To build on this, she completed an MA in Online and Distance Education, and is using the skills and knowledge gained from this to support and enhance the delivery of the MSc Nursing programme, following its NMC reapproval in 2025.
