After graduating from Glasgow University, in 1994, Ingrid followed a career in intensive-care nursing, in hospitals around the UK and Australia. She went on to complete a Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing, at Birmingham City University, graduating at the start of the new millennium. After returning to Glasgow, in 2000, she successfully obtained a lecturer-practitioner position in 2002, split between GCU and Glasgow Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit – and she continued in this clinical-academic post until 2006.
Since then, Ingrid has worked as a lecturer in adult nursing, on the undergraduate nursing programme here. Her key areas of interest are innovations in nurse education, including technology-enhanced and online learning, especially in the area of patient safety. In order to support her work in this area, she has recently completed an MA in Online and Distance Education, and will be using the skills and knowledge gained in this, to enhance the delivery of the new Bachelor of Science Nursing Studies programme that commences in 2015.
