Dr McCormick is a graduate of the Building Surveying programme at Glasgow Caledonian University and is a lecturer in the Department of Construction and Surveying.

Dr McCormick teaches in the areas of construction technology, building regulations and conservation.

He recently completed his PhD, which focused on heat transfer through cavity walls of dwellings.
