Duncan joined the school with a background both in Construction industry and academia. His work has involved positions in Italy and France as well as the UK and he has been involved in many diverse projects including working as Principal Claims Surveyor for the Eurodisney Paris project. His professional work is well respected within industry and he is a regular speaker for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. His past teaching experience includes positions at Robert Gordon University and the University of Reading. His research areas of interest include, Public procurement, Supply chain management, Cost planning and Public Private partnerships in Construction.
