Dr Dawn Carmichael is a lecturer in the Department of Computer, Communications and Interactive Systems within the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment at GCU. Dr Dawn Carmichael’s doctoral research was on social capital software metrics for social media. The research involved devising and validating novel social network analysis formulae and related software as well as creating a validation methodology. She has lead funded research projects in the areas of quality enhancement as well as social media for socially isolated young carers. She also has track record in Quality Enhancement serving as chair of a Teaching & Learning Committee and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has a broad range of teaching experience in Computing specialising in Human Computer Interaction and social games design and development. Dawn is currently the programme leader for the Computer Games suite of courses.
