Christine Monaghan

Lecturer, Practice Academic Lead - Dietetics

Christine Monaghan works as a Practice Academic Lead on both the BSc (Hon) Human Nutrition and Dietetics programmes.

She helps prepare and support students for the practice education component of their course by delivering tutorials and workshops looking at key areas for placement, such as reflective practice, assessment and feedback, and building portfolios of evidence.

She leads the Placement A Campus programme, which is currently embedded into Trimester A for Level 2 undergraduate students.

Christine is one of the facilitators on the Preparation for Professional Practice module for Health and Social Care module, which all Allied Health Professions students undertake in Level 1 of their courses.

She delivers lectures on polycystic ovary disease and critique of complementary and alternative medicines, and has a keen interest in counselling skills for dietitians. She also has an interest in developing Peer Assisted Learning models for student learning. She is the lead in the department for looking at ways to diversify our programmes to better reflect the societies we live in.

Christine also has a role in practice education, both uni-and multi-professional, where she facilitates workshops on key areas of practice education.

She is the dietetic representative on the HEI Practice Education Group and also represents Glasgow Caledonian on the Operational Group (Dietetics), where she works with colleagues from Queen Margaret University and The Robert Gordon University.

Christine is a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and is registered as a Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council.
