Dr Azam Nekahi

Dr Azam Nekahi is a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Power Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University. She joined the University in 2012 and has since contributed to teaching, research, and academic leadership within the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). In addition to her academic role, Dr Nekahi chairs the School’s Athena Swan Team and serves as the academic lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), promoting gender equality and inclusive practices across the University.

Dr Nekahi received her BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Iran, in 2004. She subsequently obtained her MSc and PhD degrees in 2007 and 2011, respectively, from Université du Québec, Canada, where she conducted research within the NSERC/Hydro-Québec/UQAC Industrial Chair on Atmospheric Icing of Power Network Equipment (CIGELE).

Her research interests focus on high-voltage engineering, including liquid and solid insulation systems, partial discharge diagnostics, dielectric materials, and spectroscopic techniques for electrical insulation assessment. She has authored and co-authored more than 50 high-quality journal and conference publications in these areas.
