Our research
Research in the centre is characterised by interdisciplinarity and working at the interface of research in social innovation, health economics and public health. We have created a scholarly, critical, multidisciplinary environment for excellent, relevant and impactful research to thrive.
The centre has strong links with the three University schools through research-led teaching, as co-applicants on collaborative research projects and joint supervision of PhD students.
Centre staff work across research themes in collaborative teams that come together for specific projects, to organise events and conferences and as writing teams. Find out more below about our research, and read about our social economy, economics of health and wellbeing, and community, citizenship and participation research themes.
Since its inception in 2010, the centre has won competitive research grants worth £30m, with £7m income to the centre from major and prestigious funders, such as the National Institute for Health and Care Research, Medical Research Council, Wellcome Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council, Scottish Government, European Social Fund and the Community Fund.
