Launch Digital and its Creative Director Richard Longmuir have played a meaningful role in supporting Glasgow Caledonian University’s 150th Anniversary Campaign, reflecting the strong connection between alumni, industry, and the University. Launch Digital has reinforced its support by funding a 150^th Anniversary Scholarship, directly contributing to opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds who may otherwise face barriers to higher education.

As a proud Graphic Design for Digital Media graduate of GCU, Richard has maintained an active relationship with the University, returning as a mentor and part-time lecturer while encouraging the development of future designers. His work at Launch Digital, combined with his commitment to community-focused projects and student engagement, aligns closely with the University’s mission of promoting opportunity, creativity, and social impact.

Richard said: ‘GCU played a huge role in shaping my career, and since graduating I’ve had the privilege of mentoring students on the Digital Design course and MINT programme, as well as lecturing on the Design for Change module. I was also honoured to be named Alumni of the Year in 2020 for my work with local charities, particularly during COVID.

As the University celebrates its 150th anniversary and launches the scholarship programme supported by Sir Alex Ferguson (and alumnus Dr Murray Rowden), I knew I had to get involved. I’m incredibly proud to support this initiative. It’s important to me that students from all backgrounds, including those with neurodiversity, are given the opportunity to succeed. Education should open doors for everyone, and I’m passionate about giving back to the institution that helped shape my journey.’
