Overview

3D design is more than environment creation.

This MSc prepares you to work across the full spectrum of 3D design, from character creation and animation to game art, architectural visualisation and visual effects. You’ll learn how to produce assets, environments and motion content using industry-standard tools and workflows.

Teaching is practical and project-based, reflecting how 3D content is created in industry. To prepare for a wide range of creative and technical careers, you’ll develop expertise in:

  • 3D modelling
  • lighting
  • rendering
  • animation
  • video production.

You’ll learn how to create clear, accurate visualisations that communicate ideas effectively. As you progress, you’ll deepen your technical abilities, specialise in areas such as visualisation, game art or animation, and build a focused portfolio that showcases your strengths. Your learning is aligned with current technologies, professional practice and emerging industry needs.

The course is designed to be accessible whether you’re new to 3D or building on existing experience. If you’re coming from another discipline, you’ll be introduced to core principles and production techniques. If you already have a background in 3D or a related field, you’ll refine your specialism and develop a more advanced, portfolio-ready body of work.

It also supports graduates and professionals from areas such as architecture, engineering or design who want to develop visualisation skills to communicate ideas through 3D media.
