This programme, with its distinctive international perspective, will help you become a graduate ready for success.
Initially you will study a broad business and management foundation covering finance, economics, HRM and marketing, from a UK and international perspective. As you progress in your studies there will be a greater emphasis on the international, cultural, sustainable and ethical context of business.
You can choose to further develop your international perspective through the study of a foreign language and an international study exchange.
Joint Degree Options
All first year students will begin on the BA (Hons) International Business programme and then if you wish to specialise and gain a Joint degree on graduation, you can choose your area of specialism at the end of your first year.
BA (Hons) International Business can be studied on its own or in combination with a specialist subject that will help you match your degree to your career aspirations. Specialisms in HRM, Finance or Marketing can be taken as a single option or studied in more depth in Years 2, 3 and 4 to provide you with a named joint degree award on graduation.
Language pathway option
Students can commence Year 1 on the BA (Hons) International Business with Languages pathway programme and choose two language specialisms throughout their degree. Please note that students on single Honours International Business can also choose to study one language module a year. If you want the opportunity to study two languages from Year One, you should apply for IB with Languages pathway.
Introduction to International Business modules including Workplace Culture and Behaviour, The Business of Social Science, International Economic Issues and Challenges, Fundamentals in Financial Management, Foundations of Marketing, Law in Business or a Language module
Society, Employability and Business, Essentials of Managing Human Resource, Contemporary Cultural Challenges in International Business, Financial Management for Decision Makers, International Institutions and Environments or a language module and an option module
The Enterprise Value Challenge, Business Research Methods and Skills, International Business Strategy, Ethical Trade and International Market Entry Operations Management and an option, exchange opportunity available through application, direct entry students are offered the opportunity for exchange in Trimester B
Honours Dissertation and modules in Contemporary Issues in World Economy, Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility and Ethics in International Business and two other specialist modules (dependent on specialism selected)

All entry requirements listed here should be used as a guide and represent the minimum required to be considered for entry. Applicants who are made a conditional offer of a place may be asked to achieve more than is stated.

Direct entry is available to the following pathways
- BA International Business
- HND Business with AB/ABB in the Graded Units.
- BA International Business and Human Resource Management (Apply with UCAS code: 2T4T)
- HND Business with AB/ABB in the Graded Units. Priority will be given to applicants with at least two optional units in HRM, particularly those in HRM: Core Activities Unit. Other applicants will be considered on a case by case basis.
- International Business and Tourism Management (Apply with UCAS code: 4R5T)
- HND Travel and Tourism or HND Hospitality Management with AB/ABB in Graded Units. Other related HND qualifications may be considered
Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 5.5.
Please note: if you are from a majority English speaking country, you may not be required to provide further proof of your English Language proficiency.
Other academic and vocational qualifications
Each application to GCU is considered on an individual basis. If you do not have the typical academic entry qualifications, but can demonstrate relevant work experience and/or credits from recognised professional bodies, you may be eligible to enter this course via the University's Recognition of Prior Learning scheme.
If you do not meet the English language requirements, you may be eligible for the English for University Study programme.
The tuition fees you pay are mostly determined by your fee status. What is my student fee status?
The fees shown are for students starting studies within the 2018/19 academic year. GCU is currently in the process of setting fees for 2019/20. Students interested in enrolling on a programmes starting in September 2019 or later should check back for further information shortly.

For new international students, particular care is taken around our induction events which begin on 14 September 2018 to welcome you to the UK and GCU prior to the start of teaching. There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus tours, city tours and social events where you can meet other international students. Where possible, we encourage you to arrange travel to allow you to arrive in time to enjoy these.

EFMD is an organisation that promotes excellence in management development internationally and accredits programmes throughout the world that meet the high-quality standards it sets for programme delivery.
This programme has a strong emphasis on connecting students directly with businesses. We regularly invite guest speakers into the classroom to give you an up-to-date employer and industry perspective. You will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience through 'live' case study challenges and projects giving you a unique insight into the workings of some of the biggest companies in the UK.
At a digital level, you'll be collaborating with real business leaders and CEOs using social media, wikis and blogs, providing you with practical skills, networking opportunities, key insights and a competitive edge at graduation.
In response to increasing demands from employers for cultural awareness, we encourage our students to develop a level of linguistic competence in a foreign language. You’ll have the option to study modern languages including French, Spanish, German and Italian from beginners to professional level depending on your previous knowledge.
Our approach to learning, teaching and assessment is tailored to the needs of international businesses. We adopt a wide range of learning and teaching methods to ensure that not only will you gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of the international business world, but also develop your intellectual and personal skills.
Assessment strategies involve traditional approaches such as exams and essays but also include more contemporary forms of assessment which are work related to prepare you for the workplace's style of reporting (e.g. presentations/reports) or use digital technologies and mobile devices.
The learning and teaching methods we use ensure that the programme is both vocationally relevant and academically challenging. Our approach is student-centred, practical and relevant to the needs of the student and employers. We've moved the focus to a more independent learning approach, where you will be encouraged to generate and critically evaluate theory and practice.
As well as the traditional lecture, seminar and workshop formats, we adopt a multi-platform approach to learning that includes a wide range of supporting material, including podcasts, webinars (internet-based seminars), discussion boards and independent (including web-based) study. In tutorials, we encourage students to participate and contribute to the learning environment through discussion and group work.
Throughout our programme, you will also engage in 'real world' scenarios through live industry projects, case studies and investigations and be encouraged to maximise industry links and work experience to put into practice the theoretical concepts and frameworks you're learning.
The range of modules from theoretical to practical and business-orientated is designed to equip you with a critical awareness of the role of business in society. You will develop the wide range of knowledge and skills necessary to excel as a leader in industry or to launch your career as a (social) entrepreneur.
