This specialised upskilling opportunity is tailored exclusively for optometrists, dispensing opticians and contact lens opticians who are registered with the GOC and have prior or current practicing experience. The module, which carries 20 credits at SCQF 11, aims to enhance individuals' knowledge and confidence in myopia management.
The modules main objective is to equip students with specialised knowledge and skills necessary to effectively treat patients with myopia. Within the module, students will gain the ability to critically evaluate current myopia research and understand its relevance to clinical practice. This includes exploring risk factors associated with myopia and various treatment methods. Additionally, students will be introduced to techniques used to monitor and treat myopia, such as axial length measurement and corneal topography.
