Academic requirements
UK honours degree 2:1 (or equivalent) in a discipline related to physiotherapy that contained a substantial element of human physiology or anatomy within its programme of study.
Experience of the process of research is essential.
A diploma or degree in physiotherapy is not appropriate.
Additional requirements
Before applying to the course, it is recommended that you are aware of the diverse nature of physiotherapy practice.
Relevant visits to hospitals, voluntary work or part-time employment in an area where the impact of disability is experienced is desirable.
Selection will be based on your educational qualifications, academic references, medical fitness and interview performance.
Students must be able to undertake the role of physiotherapists from a fitness point of view. On commencing the course all students will have to undertake occupational health screening.
All students have to undertake a PVG check on commencing the course. The cost of this process has to be met by the student.
Limited RUK places
Due to funding constraints, we have a very limited number of places available on this course for students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.
These places fill up very quickly and we’re unable to process applications more than 12 months in advance.

Relevant experience (Recognition of Prior Learning)
GCU's flexible entry policies exist to allow relevant work experience and prior learning to be considered towards standard entry or advanced entry into a course.
If you do not have the typical academic entry qualifications, but can demonstrate relevant work experience and/or credits from recognised professional bodies, you may be eligible to enter this course via the University's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme.

Additional costs for Scottish-domiciled students
If you are a Scottish-domiciled student, you will not need to pay for PVG checks, occupational health checks or uniforms. Whilst on practice education placements, you will need to meet any additional costs for accommodation and travel. Students are expected to become student members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Additional course costs for all other students (rest of UK, EU and International)
During this course, you will be required to cover the cost of:

- Uniforms: approximately £14 each. The number of uniforms you require depends on the duration of your course and can range from two to four.
- Occupational health checks and vaccination set fee of £372
- Membership of Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. New applications cost £59. Updates to the existing scheme record cost £18.
- Students are expected to become student members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
Invoices will be issued by the University for payment of all of the above additional costs in Trimester B (March/April) of the first year of your programme.

Assessment methods
This course features a mix of assessments and exams.
We use a wide range of learning and teaching methods to ensure that you have both the necessary knowledge and understanding of business and management and a portfolio of intellectual and personal skills.
Each module on the programme uses its own learning, teaching and assessment strategy to achieve learning objectives. Assessment methods vary between modules and may include unseen examinations, class tests, essays, management reports, case studies, presentations, and group work.
Employer events on campus
This course includes employer events and talks on campus. Employers such as NHS trust physiotherapy managers or private clinics will come and speak to the students in second year about applying for jobs and CPD opportunities.
