Tom Lawrie

Tom is a Lecturer in Law specialising in Scots private law. He contributes to a broad range of modules on the LLB degree programme. He contributes to the core modules including an Introduction to Legal System and Study, Commercial Law 1 and 2, Property and Land Rights, Obligations (focused on contract and delict) and Succession and Trusts.

Previously, Tom lectured in legal theory and English property law at the University of Aberdeen. His research interests lie in the historical development of Scots private law. He is currently undertaking a PhD, which examines the doctrinal development of trespass in Scots law.

Additionally, Tom supervises honours dissertations in both medical law and private law. He was recently invited to speak at the University of Bergen, Norway where he delivered a lecture highlighting comparisons between the liberal outdoor access regime in Scotland and the Norwegian legal doctrine of Allemannsretten.
