Yunus Centre

Susie Crome has served as a Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2021, following a distinguished career in Public Health.

Her professional background includes delivering community development programmes across London, with a particular emphasis on addressing health inequalities within ethnically diverse communities in East London. This experience has provided Susie with substantial insight into the pivotal role of communities in tackling health-related challenges and enabled her to establish a successful Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with a specific community of interest.

Her academic and professional interests centre on asset-based community development and the application of social capital to promote health outcomes. Susie’s current research includes her involvement in the EU Horizon ENGAGED Youth project, which investigates young people’s engagement with civic life and democratic processes. This role builds upon her extensive experience in community participatory action research, employing methodologies such as Appreciative Inquiry, Participatory Appraisal, and Photovoice techniques.

Susie is recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
