Senior Lecturer

Department of Engineering

Dr Shahab Farokhi is a Senior Lecturer in Electrical Power Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University. Since joining the University in 2012, he has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and academic development within the School of Science and Engineering .

His expertise lies in high-voltage engineering, power system insulation, and power system reliability, with particular research interests in insulation coordination, outdoor insulators operating under icing and polluted conditions, electromagnetic transients, and the reliability of transmission and distribution networks.

Dr Farokhi holds BEng and MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), and a PhD from Université du Québec, Canada. His doctoral and postdoctoral research focused on the effects of atmospheric icing on high-voltage power network equipment, undertaken in collaboration with the NSERC/Hydro-Québec/UQAC Industrial Chair on Atmospheric Icing of Power Network Equipment.

He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including a book, and continues to contribute to advancing research and innovation in electrical power engineering, particularly in the areas of power system insulation and network reliability.
