Lay Governor (Chair)

Formerly CEO of STV Group plc and founding Trustee of the STV Children’s Appeal. Rob led the turnaround of the company and positioned STV as Scotland’s leading commercial digital media company before leaving in December 2017. He had previously held leadership roles in Channel 4, UBS and Deloitte.

He now holds a portfolio of Chair and NED positions. He is Chair of technology company Blancco plc and in 2018 was appointed Chair of marketing services company Ebiquity plc. In 2018 he was appointed by the UK Government as Chair of the UK’s Met Office. In 2021 he was appointed by the UK Government as NED of OneWeb, a global satellite communications operator building a capability to deliver broadband satellite internet services worldwide. In 2018 Rob was appointed as Chair of Court of Glasgow Caledonian University. From 2012 until 2018 he was Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the Council of City, University of London. From its inception in 2014 until May 2021 he was Chair of the Scottish Government’s Developing Young Workforce, which is leading work to support youth employment. In 2017 he became a Commissioner of the Northern Lighthouse Board. In December 2019 he was appointed as Chair of Two Rivers Media Ltd, an independent production company.
