Dr Richard Danyi

Lecturer

Department of Engineering

Dr Richard Danyi joined Glasgow Caledonian University in 2021 as a Lecturer in Engineering Mathematics.

Richard graduated in Mathematics and Physics with first-class honours in 2012 at Keele University and was awarded PhD in Applied Mathematics in 2018 with a thesis titled ”Global instability of mixing layer created by confinement” also at Keele University.

In 2018, Richard successfully completed Keele University’s PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and was awarded the title Fellow of Higher Education Academy.

Before joining Glasgow Caledonian, Richard held the position of Teaching Fellow in Mathematics at Keele University and at the University of Hull as a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics. His teaching was awarded the Student Choice Award in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2020 Richard was the organizer of Royal Institute Masterclasses in Mathematics at the University of Hull.

Richard's main research area is Hydrodynamic Stability Theory, with interests in aspects of fluid stability and high Reynolds number flows. Richard is also interested in the use and application of mathematics and differential equations in engineering problems.
