Rachel Ferguson
Lecturer in Criminal Law and Evidence
Department of Economics and LawDr Rachel Ferguson lectures criminal law and evidence in the Department of Economics and Law. Her research is in criminal justice, evidence, and legal history. She has particular interest in the law related to sexual offences, children, public inquiries, and the specificities of evidence.
Her doctoral thesis investigated the development of sexual offences against children in Scotland from the early 20th century until present day and was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. She holds an LLB (Hons), Master of Research in Advanced Legal Methods, and a Master of Research in Criminology.
Prior to joining GCU, Rachel taught both Scots law and common law courses in criminal law, evidence, and jurisprudence at the University of Glasgow. She has held visiting research positions at the University of New South Wales and London School of Economics.
Rachel makes frequent media appearances to advance public understanding and debate of contemporary legal issues. She delivers courses in Criminal Law and Evidence, Advanced Criminal Law, Advanced Evidence, and Jurisprudence here at GCU.
