Alex Oliver

Lecturer in Applied Psychology

Dr Alex Oliver is a Chartered Psychologist and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Alex completed his PhD at Glasgow Caledonian University and holds an MSc in Performance Psychology from The University of Edinburgh and a BA (Hons) Psychology from Edinburgh Napier University.

Alex is Level 1 Co-ordinator and is Module Lead for Foundations in Psychology and contributes to teaching, and supervision, across BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology and taught postgraduate (MSc and DPsych) programmes.

Alex’s research interests span applied cognitive psychology. In particular, Alex is interested in metacognitive processes experienced in performance contexts and his PhD explored meta-attention in golfers.

Alex currently sits on the editorial board of the Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research and has been an active reviewer for further academic journals.
