Dr. Muhammad Ayub is a Lecturer in the Department of Computing Science at Glasgow Caledonian University. Appointed in 2023, he teaches and supervises modules in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics. His primary responsibilities include delivering engaging lectures, designing innovative learning materials, and supervising student projects across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Before joining GCU, Dr Ayub worked as a data scientist and machine learning engineer in both industry and academia. His doctoral research focused on developing deep learning models for detecting micro defects in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) processes, collaborating closely with leading global 3D printing companies. He has a wealth of experience in image classification, object detection, and image segmentation, contributing to advancements in manufacturing technology.

Dr Ayub’s research interests include the application of AI and machine learning in manufacturing and healthcare, with a focus on enhancing industrial processes and medical imaging systems. He has published his work in several peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences. Additionally, he actively collaborates with industry partners to integrate cutting-edge AI technologies into practical applications, fostering innovation and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
