Dr Muditha Kulatunga

Department of EngineeringDr. Muditha Kulatunga is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Engineering at Glasgow Caledonian University. He joined the university as a full-time academic in 2015, having previously undertaken several research and teaching-related roles since 2008. His teaching expertise includes CAD/CAM, finite element analysis (FEA), and structural engineering.
He holds a PhD from Glasgow Caledonian University, an MSc in Engineering Design from Brunel University, and a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. His academic career is complemented by industrial experience in engineering design, manufacturing, materials, and applied mechanical systems in both the UK and Sri Lanka.
Dr. Kulatunga has progressed through roles including Researcher, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Programme Leader. He also supports academic quality assurance through external examiner appointments at London South Bank University and Liverpool John Moores University. He has been involved in several externally funded international research projects, including Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, and actively supports postgraduate research through PhD supervision and collaborative research activities.
