Michelle joined the Yunus Centre as a PhD student in February 2021. Her research investigates how value perceptions are shaped and built through cultural and economic systems and how understanding those mechanisms for defining value might be leveraged to drive more equitable dynamics across organizations, communities, and societies.
Michelle’s PhD is entitled “Frameworks for a Shared Future: A Multi-stakeholder Investigation into Social Innovation for a Post COVID America.” This research investigates the manifestations and permutations of social impact organizational models utilized in Europe and the US from the advent of the industrial revolution in the UK as well as the particular historical and cultural circumstances present in the US third sector that have led to reduced social innovation. This work is supervised by Michael J. Roy, Simon Teasdale, and Elaine Ritch.
Michelle serves as a lecturer of Sustainable Fashion Strategy and graduate student research advisor at Glasgow Caledonian New York College where she leverages her more than 15 years of industry experience in social business strategy, product development, supply chain management, and operations for fashion and consumer product brands.
