Dr Melissa Anne Mesek is appointed as a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Melissa comes to the scholarly world with experience from the private sector, as she founded and ran her own international venture for six years. The programmes she teaches on reach from undergraduate to doctoral level. She leads and teaches on an array of modules, including innovation management, (social) entrepreneurship and qualitative research methods. She successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis on the empowerment of women tech entrepreneurs in the Scottish and Indian entrepreneurial ecosystems in 2024.

Her research interests include gender equality coupled with public policymaking, female entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and international contexts. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, actively engaging in pedagogically-focused research to bring new concepts to the classroom.
